Zemmie Katherine Pennington was born in Itawamba County on October 12, 1918 unto the late Mary Etta Pennington and Claude Shumpert. She joined Pine Grove M.B. Church at an early age. She was a life long homemaker and babysitter. She was united into holy matrimony to James Franklin Shumpert, and unto this union one son was born, Willie C. Shumpert. She is survived by four granddaughters: Lisa Shumpert, Jennifer Shumpert of Nettleton; Daisy Shumpert of Baltimore, MD; Melanie Taylor of Chicago, IL; two grandsons: Chris Shumpert of Nettleton; Willie Calvin Shumpert of Fulton; nieces/caregivers: Bobbie Shumpert, Theresa Ruff, Annitra Pennington of Fulton; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, five sisters: Frankie Mae Dabbs, Dessie Lee Shumpert, Marva Nene Pennington, Keither Merlene Howard, Rebecca Virginia Ann Pennington, one brother: Robert Howard Pennington
