Obituary

Willie Catherin Wright was born August 14, 1936, in Edwards, MS to the late Christopher Page (C.P.) and Mary Ella Frazier. Her earthly journey ended peacefully on February 2, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.


Willie C. attended Anguilla High School in Anguilla, MS. Willie C. moved to East Chicago, IN in 1956. She accepted Christ and received the Holy Ghost in 1975 at El Bethel Church under the leadership of Elder Ernest Walls. She later joined Zion Tabernacle Pentecostal Church where she served the remainder of her time in Indiana under the leadership of District Elder Leroy Jackson. She moved to Gary, IN in 1987 and later relocated to Tupelo, MS in 2004, where she joined Temple of Compassion & Deliverance under the leadership of Bishop Clarence Parks; where she remained until her transition. At TCD she served as a member of the Mothers Board. Willie C. was a faithful servant of the Lord. She enjoyed reading her bible, cooking, and talking on the phone.


Willie C. was preceded in death by her father, C.P. Frazier; mother Mary Ella Frazier; four sisters, Carol Lindsey, Carol Russell, Mary Russell, and Ophelia McCray; five brothers, Bernell (Jack) Wade, Keith Russell, Charles Frazier, Carvin Frazier, and Gary Reed; two nieces, Ethel Jean Frazier, and Joyce (Penny) Frazier; one grandson, Savion Boyd.


Willie C. leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Sade (Willie) Velez-Boyd of Pearl, MS, Marquita (Fiancé, Bernard) Velez-Frazier of Gary, IN; son, Anthony Velez of Anderson, IN; four sisters, Lenora Root of Tupelo, MS, Ethel Bell Boyd, of Columbus GA, Annie Mae Frazier, and Arlene Frazier, both of East Chicago, IN; five brothers, Kenneth Russell, Calvin Russell, Harold Russell, Michael Russell, and Mitchell Russell, all of St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one God-daughter Althea Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, saints, and friends. Willie C. also assisted in raising nephew Darryl Frazier and great-great-niece Briana Lenear.
