Willie Mae Buchanan has taken her final rest. Willie Mae was the first born  to the Late Beatrice (Gardner) Buchanan and the Late Charlie Buchanan on November  10, 1923, in Buena Vista, MS of Chickasaw County.  She departed this life July 7, 2019 at the Lang Green House of Cedar Nursing Home. Willie Mae confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove Church in Buena Vista.  Her family later moved to Shannon, MS and she joined Johnson Chapel M.B. Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined.  She loved attending church and hearing what she called some good singing.
Willie Mae had a firm hand and you knew when she put those hands on you, whether it was for discipline or love.  She had a kind spirit and she loved her family.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories one daughter, Demetria Foy, two grandchildren De'Aunte (Summer) Foy and Shaniqua (Jon) Claiborne all from Tupelo, MS.; Three great-grand children Zaniya Foy, O'Marian Foy, Ja'Marian Foy; two sisters Shirley Dennis of Tupelo; Beatrice Buchanan of Shannon; one brother Eddie T. Buchanan of Shannon. A Host of neices , nephews, others relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and 6 brothers Tobe Buchanan, Louis Buchanan, Sr., Corsit Buchanan, Irey Jean Buchanan, Elbirt Buchanan, Sr. and Charlie Buchanan, Jr.
Services will be Saturday, July 13, 2019 11 a.m. at Johnson Chapel M.B. Church in Shannon, MS. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Visitation will be Friday, July 12, 2019 from 5-7 p.m.at N. L. Jones Funeral Directors.
