Roy Lee DePriest was born in Lee County, MS on January 7, 1954, to the late Ross and Martha DePriest. Roy was the eighth of nine children. On August 31, 2018, Roy transitioned from his earthly life into his eternal resting place. Roy was introduced to Jesus Christ at a young age and accepted Him as his personal Savior. He kept his faith in Christ until he departed this life. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Sandra DePriest; beautiful daughter, Nerissa DePriest; granddaughter, Laila DePriest; two step-daughters, Olivia Longs and Monica Longs; stepson, John Hoskins; and five step grandchildren. His memories will also be treasured by three sisters: Marjorie Brown, Floristene Gladney, and Elizabeth DePriest (Charles) all of Tupelo, MS; three brothers: Edward DePriest, Ross DePriest, and Milton DePriest (Nellie) all of Tupelo, MS. Two aunts: Lula Mayes (Alvin) of Tupelo, MS and Lillie Calvert of Detroit, MI. One uncle, Charles Berry (Marilyn) of Pontotoc, MS; best friend, David Shannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Ross DePriest, Jr.; mother, Martha DePriest; sister, Rebecca Edwards; brother, Shed DePriest; Paternal grandparents, Ross and Emma DePriest; and maternal grandparents, Lee Given, Charlie and Annie Mae Berry. Funeral services will be Saturday September 8, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Tupelo, MS. Burial will follow at Porter's Memorial. Visitation will be Friday September 7, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at N. L. Jones Funeral Directors. Expressions of sympathy may be left at
