Ordained Minister Henry Edward Gladney was born July 22, 1947 to the union of the late Reverend Arzell Gladney and the late Zepporah Jones Gladney. At the age of seven, Minister Gladney accepted Jesus the Christ as his Lord and Savior and his calling into the Ministry of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.
Minister Gladney attended and graduated from Shivers Jr. and Sr. High School of Aberdeen, MS May, 1965. Thereafter, he attended and graduated from Rust College, Holly Spring, MS in 1969. Later in life Minister Gladney attended for two years the Interdenominational Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia.
Minister Gladney was ordained at the age of sixteen. Preaching, teaching and singing were the gifts God gave to him to do Ministry. He began pastoring in his mid-twenties. He pastored Union Hill Baptist Church, Etta, MS; Calvary Baptist Church, Okolona, MS; three (3) United Methodist Churches in Georgia and Tennessee. Later, when he resided in Alabama he pastored First Baptist Church of Pine Hill, AL. Upon returning to Aberdeen, he became a member for a period of time at Daniel Baptist Church.
In younger years in addition to preaching the Gospel, Minister Gladney had skills in management, counseling, and social work. Later, he was self employed in logging, building engines, and mastering the trucking business.
After graduating from Rust College he married the late Alice Faye Bruce Gladney who was the woman of his dreams. To that union were born eight children. After twenty-four year of marriage, seven years of separation then divorce, Minister Gladney married another for nine years then divorced.
After going it alone, Minister Gladney enjoyed people around him; family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed keeping up his yard, gardening, cooking, canning, fishing and working on his boat. Minister Gladney thought that there was nothing better than a good home cooked meal for he loved to eat.
Minister Gladney took flight on the wings of mercy and grace in the early morning of Friday, May 8, 2020. He leaves to celebrate his life his children: Eric Gladney, Ellaria Theres, Carlos Gladney (Lynette), Altermese Kendrick, Henry Gladney, Jr., Felicia Garrett (Rashard), Michael Gladney and Sharon Walker (Isaac). Grandchildren: Tajh and Tearia Gladney, Dion and Adjeanna Theres, Camille Gladney, Alexander Kendrick, Darren, Brianna and Caleb Gladney, Elijah, Emmanuel, Alexah and Amaryah Stallworth, Aubrey Simone Renee Gladney, Isaiah, Christopher, Jonathan and Indigo Rain Walker. Sisters: Elizabeth Gladney Denard (Charles) and Willietta Holmes. Nieces and Nephews: Eboni and Charles II Denard, Travis and Lloyd Holmes. God-daughter: Chanel Glenn (Lonnie). Host: Other relatives, friends and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by brothers Willie I. Gladney, James Gladney and Arzell Gladney, Jr.
Graveside Service: Thursday, May 14, 2020 @ 11am, Second Baptist M.B. Church Cemetery, 10575 Old Magnolia Hwy, Prairie, MS
