Mary McIntosh Burks was born on December 24,1923, to Elijah and Pearl Barr McIntosh in Buena Vista, MS. She departed this life Saturday, June 11, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo ,MS.

Her family later made Holly Springs her home. There she accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She remained a faithful member until her death. She received her education at Mt. Zion Church School and earned her diploma. She was united in holy matrimony to Taffie Lee Burks. They lived in Brewer for many years before relocating to Shannon. Unto their union fourteen
children (14) were born, nine (9) boys and five (5) girls. They were married for fifty-four years until his
passing.

She was a homemaker. She loved gardening, watching daytime stories, and cooking but enjoyed baking
most of all. She was a very loving, gentle and kind person. She was a mother and grandmother to all
that came in contact with her, especially her neighbors.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: three(3) daughters Christine Friend of Verona, MS,
Mary Branson (also her caretaker) of Shannon, MS, Frances (Clint) Shumpert; seven(7) sons Willie Lee
(Ruby) Burks of Memphis, TN, Freddie Burks and Rev. Melvin Burks, both of Shannon, MS, Pastor
John (Shelly) Burks and Jerry Burks, both of Tupelo, MS, Andrew Burks of Blue Springs, MS, Apostle
James (Prophet Deidre) Burks of Tampa, FL and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, two sons Willie Rufus Burks, James Elbert Burks; two daugh- ters Lenora Bush, Andora Burks; two sisters Catherine Kilgo, Mattie Mae Green; two brothers Monroe
(Red) McIntosh and Chiles (Slack) McIntosh, one granddaughter Evangela Burks and one grandson
David Burks.
