Obituary

Marilyn was born in Ackerman ,Ms to the late Merlin Dean and Mrs Mary Frances Conoway Marilyn attended elementary school in Holly Springs and Amory,Ms She attended middle and High School in Amory and graduated from Grenada High School in 1975. She attended Rust College in Holly Springs ,Ms for two years then transferred to the University of Miss Where she received a B.S.degree in Business Administration in 1979. Marilyn began her 34 year career at the Bank of Miss/Bancorp South in 1980, in the word processing department. At the time of her death, she was the vice-president and Employment Coordinator of Human Resources. In December 1990, she was united in matrimony to James Ellis Agnew In 1999,a son,James Conoway"Connor" Agnew was added to the union. She accepted Christ at an early and work diligently for many years as a Sunday school teacher ,choir member, usher,communication secretary,member and secretary of the United Methodist Women and chair of the Council on Ministries at her local church St Paul United Methodist Church in Tupelo Ms. At the conference level of the church,she was a member of the Commission on Religion and Race and the Board of Methodist Senior Service. In 1983, Marilyn became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority ,Inc Nu Sigma Omega Chapter. she was a life member and Silver Star recipient and served as treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Tupelo Ladies Civitan Club where she held several positions. Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory ,a devoted husband of 23 1/2 years, James Agnew : son James Conoway"Connor" Agnew her mother Mary Conoway ,sister Priscilla(Darrell)Thompson of Upper Marlboro,MD three brothers, Merlin Conoway, Jr. Tupelo ,Ms Anthony (Barbara) Conoway,Laurel,MD: and Stephen Conoway, Clinton ,NC. she also leaves four nieces Daphne Thompson and Rihanna Sanchez, Essex, MD: Ashley Conoway, Birmingham ,AL: Savannah Conoway, Clinton, NC: four nephews Randle ,Austin and Isaiah Thompson,Upper Marlboro, MD and Ricardo Sanchez,Essex,MD three sister-in-laws, Tommie Pinkins and Pearlena Vaughn, Tupelo ,Ms. and Lena Berry, Winona, Ms and two brother-in-laws Frank Agnew,Tupelo,Ms Bennie (Shelia)Agnew,East Hazelcreast,IL as well as a host of other relatives and friends In lieu of flowers make donations to Methodist senior Services, 109 S Broadway St Tupelo ,Ms 38804 phone no 662-844-8977 and the St. Paul United Methodist Church Anniversary funds 502 N Springs St, Tupelo,38804
