Lou (Louella) E. Hatton's physical existence on earth came to a peaceful end at the age of 85, on June 14, 2026, at the hour of 7:55 am at Endeavor Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst, IL. Lou was born October 23, 1940, in Shannon, MS to Tom "Brit" and Martha "Bush" R. (Edmond) Lyles. She was the 2nd oldest child in the family of six children.

Lou confessed a belief in Christ as her savior at the age of nine at Johnson Chapel M.B. Church, Shannon, MS under the leadership of Pastor John Smith.

Her grade school education started at Siggers High before integration, where she graduated from Siggers High School in 1959 as Valedictorian of her class.

She furthered her education by enrolling in Mississippi Industrial (MI College, Holly Spring, MS in the spring of May of 1959. In September 1959, she started college (first one in her family). She graduated in May 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.

In the spring of 1963, while visiting her younger sister, Arvilla in Chicago, IL, who was only three years younger than her in age; she met the love of her life, Paul Hatton, on a blind date and their lifetime courtship began.

Louella returned to Mississippi and taught one year at Green Street Elementary School, Tupelo, MS. On June 27, 1964, Paul Hatton and LouElla Lyles were married in Chicago, IL. She remained in Chicago with her new husband, finished worked on completing her goal to educating children in Oak Park, IL, Maywood, IL and Chicago Public Schools where she touched a many child's life, who, ultimately went on to have successful careers. Her mission was to educate children, not be a babysitter. Kids found out quick that in Mrs. Hatton's room, you are there to learn; not play, talk back or sleep. She wanted children to be the best they could be and learn.

Later in her teaching career, at the young age of 68, she went back to college, at American University, Chicago, IL. She completed her studies and received her Master's degree in Curriculum Instruction in the spring of 2008.

Louella attended several churches while living in Chicago, over the years but never united with one until she moved to Bellwood, IL. The Bible teaching, open arms fellowship that God spoke of, Broadview Missionary Baptist Church, 2100 S. 25th Ave., Broadview, IL 60155. "You are where you need to be to "grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever, Amen", (Peter 3:18). She united with Broadview under the leadership of Rev. Clarence W. Hopson, on June 5,1983 where she remained an active, faithful, loving, caring devoted, member. During her pursuit of the Persistent Purpose of her relationship with Christ, there have been many people placed in her path; stressed, difficult relationships, loneliness, or and needed someone to talk to that would listen, not judge. And when she spoke words of wisdom and kindness and a positive attitude and encouragement to look at situations not just from their side but others to, thus enabling them to move forward to a brighter day in the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Martha R. Lyles; sister, Maybelline Lyles, husband, Paul Hatton; brother, Walter; and brother, Curtis O. Lyles, Sr.

Louella leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Mary of Blytheville, AK, Arvilla (Clarence) of Chicago, IL, Tom H. Lyles of Shannon, MS, Danny H. (Ann) Lyles of Waukegan, IL; Nellie (Milton) Depriest, of Tupelo, MS, and Martha A. Lyles Green, Killeen, TX; and many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and others whose lives Lou (Louella) touched.
