Leon Salters, one of God’s humble servants was called home March 13, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Leon Salters was born January 25, 1928, to the late Norvell and Lois Kimble Salters.

Leon professed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Hopewell Belden. He later joined Kimble Chapel Belden where he remained a faithful member until his health failed. Leon was the oldest man at Kimble Chapel. He served as custodian, groundskeeper, deacon, superintendent, usher, and president of the male chorus.

Leon formally worked as a sharecropper, Penn Tire, and retired from Tupelo Public Works. He loved traveling with his family, gardening, and watching baseball games. Feeding and hosting family gatherings was one of his favorite things to do. Most of all Leon loved the Lord and talked about Him to everyone.

He united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Katherine Bobo “his Baby Cake”, January 22, 1949. Eleven children were born to this union.

He leaves to cherish memories his children, John Salters (Carol), Barbara Crump (Bobby), Pastor O. J. Salters (Denecise), Melvin Salters (Debra), Rev. Gentry Salters (Karen), Vivian Clark (David), Gwen Powell (Eric), Gary Salters, and Vanessa Salters.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Katherine, sons: Lee Earnest Salters and Lester V. Salters; 3 grandchildren: Joel Salters, Courtney Henderson, and Byron Salters, and a daughter in law Gwenda Hodges Salters.
