Lenora Bush was born August 8, 1943 unto Taffie L. Burks and Mary Burks in Lee County, MS. She departed her life Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe, Louisiana.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion M.B. Church, Verona, MS. She moved to Monroe, Louisiana where she attended college after graduation from Siggers High School in Shannon. She was valedictorian and the school active artist. There she met and married her husband Clyde Bush, Sr. and unto this union three children were born. They were married for fifty-plus years. She was a daycare teacher for several years. She moved to Dallas, Texas where she became a high school teacher for years until her health failed. Later the family moved back to Monroe, LA where she remained until death.
She was a very loving and kind person. She loved taking care of her family, cooking, planting, and tending to her garden. She had a very unique smile.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Clyde Bush, Sr. of Monroe, LA, her loving mother Mary Burks; three children Sheila Bush and Byron Bush both of Monroe, LA, Clyde Bush, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, two grandchildren Brandi Bush of Monroe, LA and Shasha Williams of Jacksonville, FL; two great-grandchildren Kameron Watson of Monroe, LA and Christopher Williams of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters Christine Friend of Verona, MS, Mary A. Branson of Shannon, MS, Frances (Clint) Shumpert of Tupelo, MS; seven brothers Willie Lee (Ruby) Burks of Memphis, TN, Pastor John C. (Shelly) Burks of Palmetto, MS, Apostle James D. (Deidra) Burks of Tampa, FL, Jerry Burks of Tupelo, MS, and Freddie Burks, Andrew Burks and Rev. Melvin Burks all of Shannon, MS and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Taffie L. Burks, one sister Andora and two brothers James Elbert and Willie Rufus Burks.
Celebration of Life: Saturday, November 30, 2019 @ 12:30 pm, Mt. Zion M.B. Church, Verona, MS
Visitation: Friday, November 29, 2019 from 12-4 pm, N.L. Jones Funeral Directors
Interment: Mt. Zion Church Cemetery
