On Monday, May 10, 2021, Jimmie Lee Young, Jr. passed away
peacefully in his sleep.
Jimmie L. "Baye" Young, Jr. was born on Tuesday, October 15, 1935 to
Jimmie Lee and Ruby Odea Smith Young in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Baptized into Saint Paul United Methodist Church at an early age, Baye
remained a devoted and faithful member of the congregation who
served in numerous capacities until his health failed.

in Tupelo in 1953. The following fall he began his collegiate journey at
Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College in Lorman, MS. In 1957, he

followed by a Master's of Science degree in 1975 from Mississippi State
University. Jimmie went on to lead a diverse career in education and
administration for over 40 years.
On January 18, 1958, Baye married the love of his life Helen Louise
Davis. Helen and Baye enjoyed 63 years of marriage. GOD showed his
favor on this beautiful union with the birth of their four children-Jimmie
III "Little Baye," Angela Marie, Samuel Julius, and Harriet Ruchelle.
Jimmie Lee Young III preceded him in death.
Jimmie was an entrepreneur. He and his wife Helen owned and
operated "Young's Barbeque and Mini Mart" on North Spring Street in

masonry can be seen throughout the community.
