On October 7, 2025 Rev. Shelton Polk departed this earth to join his heavenly Father in the land of eternal life. Rev. Polk was born July 28, 1941 to James Butler and Lucille (Witherspoon) Polk in Plant City FL and entered his final rest in Tupelo MS.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lynn Polk, his father, J Butler Polk; his mother, Lucille Polk, sister, Ravina Polk; brothers Bobby and Manfred Polk.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca (Brian) Wilson, Christy (Joshua) Sullivan, Frank Polk, Larry Polk, Teri (Rick) Stuecken. Sisters, Sharon Young and Paulette Guthrie. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Polk graduated from Southeastern Bible College in 1965. Immediately after graduation, he married the love of his life, Betty. They began their lifelong ministry together. They pastored in Tullahoma, Morristown, Knoxville, Maryville, Memphis and Kingsport Tn; Grenada, Hernando and Tupelo MS.
He was ordained by the Assemblies of God, where he served faithfully for over 50 years.
Rev. Polk lived to serve his Savior, Jesus Christ with every fiber of his being. There is not a doubt that he heard, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord."
Funeral will be held at N. L. Jones Funeral Home, 2510 S Gloster, Tupelo MS on Saturday, October 11th at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be held 1:00 - 3:00 prior to the service.
Burial will be at Crestlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 800 W Jackson, Cookeville TN. Visitation will be Monday, October 13 th, 12:00 - 2:00 pm with interment immediately following.
