Obituary

Jennie Green was born on March 9, 1930, in Quincy, MS to Mr. Willie Carr and Momie Anita Sarter. She confessed the need for salvation at an early age and received the Lord Jesus Christ at Carter's Chapel Faith Temple in Amory. Mother Green served faithfully in the church choir. She also served on the Mother's Board and in the Sunday School Department as treasurer. She attended Monroe County Training School in Amory and was employed for more than 16 years at Red Kapp Industry in Amory. She later retired from Monroe Trouser located in Smithville, MS. In March of 1947, Mother Green married William David McMillian. They were blessed with one beautiful daughter and five handsome sons. Later, she joined in holy matrimony with Joseph Green, Jr. on December 27, 1970. They were blessed with one amazing daughter. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Pamela (Pastor Chris) Traylor of Tupelo, MS and Glenda (Earskin) Adair of Amory, MS; four sons: Jerome (Josephine) McMillian of Amory, MS, Odolphus (Rachel) McMillian of Nettleton, MS, Alfonzo McMillian and Charles (Miriam) McMillian of Oklahoma City, OK; four stepdaughters; nine stepsons; two sisters: Mattie Shaw of Chicago, IL and India Moore of Amory, MS; two sisters-in-law, 24 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mother Green was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Green Jr., her parents: Mr. Willie Carr and Momie Sarter; one son: James McMillian; two stepsons; four brothers; two aunts; and three uncles.
