Obituary

On November 7, 1943, in Shannon, Mississippi, the Lord placed a most beautiful being on this earth and blessed Joseph Green Jr., and Joe Willie Green Walker with a beautiful son. They named him Harry James (Man) Green and cultivated him with the love of God. Unexpectedly, Harry passed away from this land Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Harry was reared and nurtured in a Christian home. He acknowledged the need for salvation at an early age and received the Lord Jesus Christ and his Savior at Poplar Springs CME Church, Shannon, Mississippi. Harry was a faithful member and loved his church and church family. He made various contributions to his church and community. He learned to depend on the Lord in all his endeavors. Throughout his talents and abilities, he attained many honors and accolades. Harry received his formal education in the Nettleton School District. He attended Tupelo School of Beauty, Tupelo, MS, where he earned a Cosmetology License. In September of 1969, Harry married the former Ms. Betty Gail Hopkins of Lee County. They were blessed with three beautiful sons: Vincent Green (Tia), Saltillo, Mississippi, Harold Green, Tupelo, MS, and Darius Green, Saltillo, MS; one step-daughter Ursula Smith, Tupelo, MS. Throughout his life, Harry was blessed with many talents. He is the founder and President of Green Acres, Inc., which formulated and manufactured Hawaiian Silky and Your Future hair care products. He touched many lives throughout the world. His products changed the hair industry. Harry was a dedicated and committed individual. He leaves a legacy that will impact the lives of many young men and women throughout the world. Harry reached his full potential through his love for hair and people. He is a self-made multi-millionaire. Harry graced this earth with distinctive flare and a fabulous lifestyle. Everyone looked forward to see what kind of vehicle he would display at the next upcoming event. Those left to cherish his memories are: His loving and devoted wife, Ms. Elide Cristina Green, Tupelo, MS, his wonderful mother, Ms. Joe Willie Green Walker, Shannon, MS; five sisters: Shirley Cooley (Robert), Shannon, MS, Pam Traylor (Pastor Chris), Tupelo, MS, Judy Curry (James) and Shirley Betts (Thomas) Nettleton, MS, and Caronica Nelson (Robert) Grand Rapids, MI; eight brothers: Wilford Green (Carcenie) Shannon, MS, W.T. Green (Annie) Nettleton, MS, Nathaniel James (Mary) St. Louis, MO; Oliver Nelson (Brenda Gail), West Point, MS, and Kelvin, Michael (Glenda), Marty, Jeffery, and Sammy Denman of Nettleton, MS; three aunts: Idella Rogers, Shannon, Ms, Lillian Morrow, Tupelo, MS, Mary Sims, Amory, MS, one uncle: Levi Green (Eva Mae), Akron, OH, ten amazing grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Harry's memory and spirit will be greatly missed by a special niece, Etoil Green, special cousins, Geraldine Terry and Larry Bogan, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He will be joined in heaven with his son, Calvin Parker; his father, Joseph Green Jr., and his brother, Reginald Denman.
