Elzie Lee Johnson Jr. was born on September 14, 1949 in Lee County, MS to Elzie Sr. and Mamie Johnson.
At an early age, he confessed his faith in Jesus Christ at Red Oak Grove M.B. Church in Tupelo, MS. Later in life, he joined Hamilton Chapel M.B. Church in Tupelo, MS.
He was united in holy matrimony to Indiana Johnson. He attended Lee County Schools in Lee County, MS. He worked many years at Mid-South Packing until it closed. He also worked several years at Trace Feed and Farm Supply until it closed. Last, he worked at Smith's Nursery until current health conditions. He was a very hard worker and a person that never met a stranger. He had a huge impact on many people in our community. His laugh, jokes, long stories, and bright smile will be missed.
Elzie loved spending time with family, attending his grandchildren extracurricular actives, playing the guitar, mowing yards, working outdoors, and being a huge sports fan.
He leaves to mourn his wife: Indiana Johnson, six daughters: Ann Baker, Stephanie Howell, Sharon Depriest, Chequitta Ivy (Boris), Veronica Johnson, and Peaches Bradley (Andre) one bonus son: Kerry Hardin. In addition to his loving immediate family, members left to cherish his memories are one brother: T.C. Johnson, one sister: Jennie Mae Holliday (Larry), 25 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Leo Johnson, brothers: Willie C. Johnson, L.C. Johnson, and Willie Jr. Johnson, sisters: Carrie Lipsey, Ruby Lee Johnson, and Sally Mae Hamilton.
