Elizabeth Moore Jenkins was born July 9, 1948, to the late Eddie Moore, Sr. and Elizabeth Sargent Moore. She departed this life on Friday, May 15, 2026. Her grandparents are the late David and Mattie Sargent, and the late Elijah and Louise Moore.
At an early age she professed her faith in Christ and joined Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church where she remained a member until her passing.
Elizabeth (“Jay”) attended Fannie Carter High School of Okolona, MS. She was a member of the school’s chorus, enjoyed Home Economics, and she held the seat of treasury for the class of 1969. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, IL and was employed at Goldblatt’s Department Store as a salesclerk. She later returned to Okolona, MS and continued her studies at Mary Holmes Junior College in West Point, MS. Thereafter, she worked with children in the area of early childhood education at Raspberry Daycare Center, Okolona Elementary School, Little Bitties Daycare Center, and Kids First Preschool & Childcare Center. On August 8, 1970, Elizabeth married the love of her life Charley Haverd Jenkins. She was a happy, dedicated, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Beloved ones who preceded Elizabeth in death are her parents; grandparents; daughter, Tobie Jenkins Marshall; step-son, Uland Cunningham, Sr.; sister, Mattie Moore Ford; and brother, Eddie Moore, Jr.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband, Charley; her children: Marcy Jackson and Marlon Jenkins (Uanna); her stepdaughter Diane Ivy; her grandchildren: Rayven Jenkins (Crystal), Jazzi Jenkins, DNaj Marshall, Kayli Jenkins, DMahn Marshall, and Julian Jenkins; step grandchildren Uland Cunningham, Jr. and Aiden Cunningham; her great- grandchildren: Blair and Deri’ Armstrong; her sisters: Sarah Moore Jenkins, Zettie Moore Johnson, and Teresa Moore Price; her sisters-in-law: Rubbie Jenkins and Brenda Joyce Baker; and her brothers-in-law: Watsie Lee Jenkins and Eddie Wayne Jenkins— all of Okolona, MS. She is also survived by her two beloved aunts: Mary Moore of Albany, NY and Alma Moore Cook of Cincinnati, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the cherished class of 1967.
