Obituary

Mrs. Eddie Mae Westbrook was born June 17, 1939, to
the late William Ruff and Roberta Ruff-Springer in
between Plantersville and Nettleton, MS.
She departed from this life on November 12, 2023, at
her home.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Jim
Westbrook, into this union four children were born. Her
two oldest children, Glenda C. Thomas and Jimmy "Lil
Jim" proceeded her in death. She leaves her other
children: Terry (Sonya) Westbrook, Verona, MS,
Shonda Westbrook, Tupelo, MS; Grandchildren:
Banterrius Westbrook, Whitney Westbrook, Devonte
Westbrook, Damani Thomas, Rashaad Thomas, and

Cortlyn Smith, and a host of neices, nephews, and great-
grandchildren.

She was a caring and loving person who would help
anyone in need. However, she would not hesitate to
speak her mind on certain subjects. She expressed
herself in a manner that would demand respect, but she
showed love above all else. She was stubborn, but she
preferred to be independent and do things her own way.
Her family and friends will always remember her and
the light and joy that illuminated our hearts. She loved
the Lord and loved to get happy in church, especially
when her sister, Earlene Ausborn-White, sang "When
the Gates Swing Open."
She appreciated cooking and being outside, enjoying
nature. She loved decorating her yard during the
holidays and as the seasons changed throughout the
year. She was given the nickname the "yard lady" due
to her gardening maintenance. She also loved hosting
dinners for family and friends, where she became the
main attention getter. As grandkids, we loved gathering
at her house for family functions. She was a very
content and caring soul who never really asked for
much. She would rather try to satisfy others to see them
smile.
