Earl Lawless, 71, died Monday, December 24, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. He was born on October 10, 1947 to James Grey and Doris Lawless in Raceland, LA. He lived his adult life in New Orleans, LA. He was married to Otha M. Burdine Lawless for 43 years. He and his family later moved to Tupelo, MS. Mr. Earl had an exceptional career - journalist, army veteran, civil rights activist, policeman, and security guard for Tupelo Public Schools where he later retired. He enjoyed and loved working in the church and helping other disabled veterans with their claims. He was a loving person and helped people anyway he could. Prior to his failing health, Mr. Earl attended Palmetto C.M.E. Church. Survivors include his wife Otha and two daughters Sharmanice (Kordell) Bradley and Reneta (Robert) McGaffie. Mr. Earl Lawless had 5 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at N. L. Jones Funeral Directors. Services honoring his life will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Palmetto C.M.E. Church with Rev. Leo Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park in Verona, MS.
