Obituary

On December 25th, 2020, at Tupelo Nursing Rehab Center in
Tupelo, MS, Dorothy Collier made her transition into Heaven.
She was born February 5, 1938 in Verona, MS. She was the
seventh of eleven children born to Wesley and Mary Shackelford.

Dorothy professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Upon graduating from Mary
C. Wade school in search of a better opportunity,She moved to
Michigan and began her career at Chrysler. While living there She
was an active member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Roseville,
Michigan where she served as the recording secretary.

Sis. Dorothy returned to Mississippi to care for her parents,
and worked for Arvin Industries, Monarch Mirror, and MTD/Air
Cap in Verona, MS. She retired from MTD. She enjoyed working
in her flower garden, cooking for family and friends, and making
people laugh. She is known for making her famous macaroni and
cheese and keeping everyone on their toes.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Charles "Alvin"
Collier of Memphis, TN, and Rev. Paul Sr.(Shavonne) Collier of
Tupelo, MS,; five grandchildren: Efram, Nicholas, Chartris, Alexis,
and Paul Junior,; ten great grandchildren; One sister, Deloris
(Willie) Lynk; Three brothers, Howard (Rose) Shackelford, and
Joe (Sally) Shack, and Don (Dorothy) Shackelford; two special
friends, Clemmie Jones and Nancy Watkins, and a host of other
relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Mary
Shackelford,; three sisters: Odessa Riley, Clytee Kirk, and Ann
Crawley Arnold; Three brothers: Robert "Bob" Shackelford, John
Wesley Shackelford, and James Lewis Shackelford and one
grandson: Corey D. Gray.
