Delois
Caruthers
March 14, 2026
Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, Giver, and Child of God are some of the many titles the cherished Delois Patton-Caruthers held. Delois Patton-Caruthers was born to the late Earon Patton and Flossie McGlown-Patton on August 29, 1942, in Guntown, MS.
At a young age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Camp Creek M.B. Church. She graduated from J.O. Lowe High School in Guntown, MS.
Being courageous and determined in her younger years, she uprooted her life and moved Up North to pursue a better life, and she did just that. Her journey Up North began in Muskegon, MI, then she transitioned to Chicago, IL, where she worked for AT&T. Many years later, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she remained until she retired from Lucent Technologies, Inc. As a result of her courage, hard work, and faith in God, she traveled, formed lifelong friendships, enjoyed shopping, and explored the world.
After retiring, she moved back home to Tupelo, MS, to be among her family, whom she loved dearly. She loved and cherished her siblings deeply. Her sharp mind gave her the superpower to magically remember all her siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends’ birthdays. Up until her death, she was devoted to cooking and keeping the family united
Upon her transition back home to Tupelo, MS, she became a member of Morning Star M.B. Church, then later began attending Peoples Community Baptist Church until her health declined. She was devoted to studying the Bible every day and enjoyed discussing it with others. Delois loved the Lord!
Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Ruby Bailey, and three brothers, James Patton (Susie), Sam Patton (Mae), and Terry Patton (Brenda Norris, special companion), all from Tupelo, MS. In addition, a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earon and Flossie Patton, two brothers, John Patton and Charles Ray Patton, and three sisters, Brenda J. Patton, Verlean Patton-Elliot, and Ydell Patton-Floyd. She was immensely cared for at her bedside by her sister, Ruby Bailey, nieces Carla Floyd, Tyronica Logan, and Chasity Patton, and her sister-in-love, Lula Patton.
She lived, she laughed, and she loved even harder. She lived without regret! On March 14, 2026, her earthly adventure came to an end so that her eternal one could begin.
"I lived and enjoyed my life. I did everything I wanted to!" ~Delois
