Obituary

Charles Staples was born on June 29,1941 to the late J.C. and Irene Staples. He was the oldest child out of six children. There were three brothers; Sammy(Annie) ,Carnell,and Floyd T.Staples all of Tupelo MS; two sisters; Minnie(Darrell)Cousin and Carolyn Martin both of Tupelo ,MS. As a young country boy, Charles began to sing Gosple music and during his music career he sung with some of the best groups around. He was one of the Orginial QC's , one of the lead singer with the Sensational Star-Lights,he sung with the late great Willie Banks and The Messengers, and a numbers of other gospel groups. After his career as a gosple singer, he began to work in radio as a Gosple D.J.at WSEL,Pontotoc. That's where many began to know him as The Country Boy Chuck . He fell in love and married Clara E.Rupert, where they were joined in holy matrimony and remained married for 51 years. Charles was well-known around the area for his knowledge of fixing automobiles and selling gospel music. He was a loving man and leaves to cherish his memories six children, four sons Danny Stone,Elzie(Sarah) Staples, Floyd Staples and Darrin Staples all of Tupelo MS, two daughter; Dietrich (Jeffery) Lindsey of Tupelo,MS and Angela Gardner of Okolona, MS; 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephew. Hwas preceded in death by his parents; J .C. and Irene Staples and son Elzie Staples.
