Obituary

Betty Jo Hawkins Lynn Polk joined her heavenly Father in heaven on July 27, 2017. Betty was born in Gainsboro, Tennessee to Domer and Rozelle Hawkins on July 18, 1935. Betty was married to Jimmie Shelton Polk on June 26, 1965 in Cookeville, TN. In their 52 years of active ministry, they resided and pastored in Morristown, Knoxville, Tullahoma, Maryville, Kingsport, and Memphis, Tennessee, and in Grenada, Hernando and Tupelo, Mississippi. Betty was active in all areas of ministry including women's, children's, youth and music. She was the ultimate pastor's wife...a blessing to all...whether the church, her family, her work or her community. Betty was a prolific author and publishing weekly devotionals for several community papers in numerous states during her life. Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ace Lynn of Cookeville, Tennessee; her parents, Domer and Rozelle Hawkins of Cookeville, Tennessee and a brother, Donnie Hawkins of Pensacola, Florida. Betty is survived by her husband, Jimmie Shelton Polk of the home in Tupelo, MS. Her children Teresa Lynn Stuecken (Richard) of Midwest City, OK; Frank (Lynn) Polk of Southaven, MS; Larry (Lynn) Polk of Pontotoc, MS; Rebecca Wilson (Brian) of Nixa, MO and Christy Sullivan (Joshua) of Hernando, MS; a sister Marilyn Dailey of Cookeville, TN; a brother Bobby Hawkins of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren Renee (Stuecken) Boley, Billy and Tatonia Stuecken, Hunter and Carly Wilson, Matt Polk, Faith, Hope and Justus Sullivan; and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation and viewing will be at N. L. Jones Funeral Directors on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. A private viewing will be from 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. followed by the funeral at Life House Church in Hernando, MS on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Visitation will also be on July 31, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Presley Funeral Home in Cookeville, TN, followed by a graveside service at the Crest Lawn Cemetery.
