Robert Brand Jr.
August 31, 1942 - August 30, 2020
Sunday August 30 th , 2020, Mr. Robert Brand Jr. was called to eternal rest with our Lord and Savior. He was born on August 31 st , 1942 to the late Mr. Robert Leslie Brand Sr. and the late Mrs. Teresa Seals Brand. He was one of eight siblings; the late Willie Etta Snow, the late Susie Etta Brand, Eldora Williams, Ruthie Mae McClendon, the late Bobby Evans, the late Willie Curtis Brand and Alexander Buchanan. Despite some living in different states, it never diminished the love they shared or showed to each other. He was wed to Glenda Ann Bogan on November 20 th 1973. Five children came from this union; Shelia (Mandrell) Jones, Jacqual (Ryan) French, Kesha (Sean) Terry, Nekenisha “Sha” Brand and Meashawn Brand. His previous seven children; James Curtis Key, the late Robert Junior Johnson, David Brand, Rochelle Denise Christian, the late Kenneth Robert Brand, Shawnette Lynshell (Philip) Brand-Lawton, and Larry Dornell Brand added gave him a grand total of twelve children that he loved individually and dearly. Now with this many children, comes a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all loved with all his heart. He was a skilled and dedicated worker no matter the job. He was employed by Penn Tire as a tuber and by Nu Way Manufacturing (later changed to S & W Wielding) as a top wielder/supervisor. His last assignment was the most rewarding of all, a bus driver for Lee County Public Schools. Every job he performed, it was with excellence. From the way he dressed, to way he conducted business, it was all done in excellence. After his return to Christ, he was ALL in. His life reflected it every single day. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Houston (Buena Vista), Mississippi. He had many roles and was dedicated to them all. He was a Deacon, member of the Male Chorus, Benevolent Steward, Vice Superintendent of Sunday School, Board of Trustee Member and assisted or supported the youth in various activities. The choir is where he felt at home with his baritone voice. One of his favorite songs is No Tears in Heaven and when he sang it, you felt it. Well you felt every song he sang because he truly sang it from his heart. On the weekend you would find him studying his Sunday School lesson even while waiting on students to return to the bus. If you never heard his laugh or saw his smile, you truly missed out on a wonderful sight and an infectious sound. If you never spoke with him about anything, you missed out on great wisdom. If you never heard him say, “Look out now good time”, you missed the greeting of the year. He had the gift of gab and did not meet a stranger. He respected and valued friendships made wherever he worked and still maintained them even when he moved to another assignment. He loved the students he transported daily as if they were his very own grandchildren. He loved helping people however and whenever he could. God enabled him to overcome many obstacles, to love and to be loved by many. He had the heart of a servant and modeled it for all to see. He was a man of his word and his actions spoke volumes. His life has impacted so many and his legacy will continue to thrive. Due to the pandemic the graveside service will be private to family only. Thank you for understanding.
