Timothy D. Ivy

Timothy D. Ivy, born on December 22, 1979, passed away on August 5, 2024, surrounded by family at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was 44 years old. Timothy confessed his life to Christ at an early age at Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, influencing his actions and relationships with others. Timothy was a proud 1998 graduate of Shannon High School, where he excelled as a player on the varsity football team and contributed to their 1996 state championship victory. His dedication and leadership on the field were a testament to his character and determination. After high school and following in his father’s footsteps, Timothy attended Lane College in 1998, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. His commitment to his studies and passion for business set the stage for a successful career. Upon graduating from Lane College, Timothy began his professional journey at BancorpSouth as a management trainee. His hard work, dedication, and exceptional skills quickly earned him respect and recognition within the company. After over fifteen years at BancorpSouth, Timothy joined Itawamba Community College as a WIOA career coach, where he continued to make a positive impact on those around him. Timothy’s favorite motto and saying was, “We got to help the people.” He enjoyed cooking and hosting cookouts. As a firm believer in education, Timothy was a proud parent of three children enrolled at Ole Miss University and his youngest daughter attending Itawamba Community College Middle School. On December 13, 2013, Timothy married the former Lora Harper. He is survived by his spouse, Lora Ivy, and five children: Kiersten Agnew, Riley Ivy, Ocean Ivy, Aspen Ivy, and Desmond Matthews. He is also survived by his father, Tommie Lee Ivy of Shannon, MS; his siblings, Cynthia (Jimmy) Adams of Tupelo, MS, Octavius (Ulaunda) Ivy of Olive Branch, MS, and Marcus (Keisha) Souter of Marlboro, MD; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Timothy is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Louise King Ivy, and his grandparents, Willie Louis Ivy, Myrtle Buchanan Ivy, Earlie King Sr., and Munola Jones King. Timothy’s life was a testament to his faith, dedication, and love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
