Obituary

On May 17, 1972, Charlotte Yvette Stegall was born into this earthly realm. On May 10, 2025, just a few days short of her 53rd birthday, God decided to bring his daughter back home to him.

Charlotte was the first child born to Evelyn and Charlie Stegall. She later became passionately known as Charla.Charla graduated from the Amory School District in 1990. After graduating high school, she continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi. While attending Souther Miss, Charla pledged the sorority of Alpha Kappa Alpha Incorporated. She achieved a degree in Broadcast Journalism which paved the way of her becoming connected with WCBI where she became anchor and co-host of her own morning show with Bill Gamel called WCBI Sunrise. Later, Charla would become connected with other broadcast networks where she always had a positive impact. Charla received an Emmy Award for her work at the Louisville TV station.Charla was an author, a business woman, a producer, and a visionary to say the least. She wrote a book called "Life's Lemons Make Good Lemonade." Charla's biggest accomplishment was founding the organization Power to Exhale. Power to Exhale is a women's empowerment group that inspires and motivates women across the world through travel and togetherness. To date, this movement has well over 600,000 members with 112 Chapters in all of the US states and in five different countries. Charla also started The Real Power Summit—an empowerment weekend geared towards recharging and refueling women's minds, bodies, and spirits. Because of all her achievements, Charla was also one of 60 nominees nationally for the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award!

Although Charla is absent from our natural eye, memories of her bold and sweet spirit will always live in the heart of her one and only son, the love of her life, Tyler Christian Young (Houston); her mother, Evelyn Stegall (Amory); her sister, stylist, prayer partner, and very best friend, Letricia French (Amory); a brother-in-law that she loved as her very own brother, Rufus French; a niece (her bestie/her "mini-me") and a nephew who are more like a son and daughter to Charla as well, Charleston and Kyra French; two cousins who were raised by her mother like her siblings, Stanley and Pat Evans and their children: Sedan Evans, Arsenio Evans, Alexis Evans, Jeremy Evans, Divante Evans, Marty, Pete Evans, Angela Mitchell, and Sharon Ezell; a special cousin, Shirley Booker/Charles (Nashville, TN); a special friend, Kendrick Henix; her godmother, Jane Thomas; a godbrother, John Thomas; an additional godmother, Betty Crayton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and additional family members. Charla's father, Charlie Clinton Stegall, preceded her in death, along with her cousin/brother, Rodney Ray Evans Sr.
