Obituary

Real life begins with heaven's first breath… Sorrows end when earth's breath is last breathed. Rejoicing begins when natural breath breathes its last and the soul is taken home where it began. There's only sorrow in earth's last breath for the ones breathing the breath only God can give thinking it's their own. John Alfred Goree began breathing the breath of enteral life November 4, 2023, when he shedded his last tears as his beloved wife wept singing "I Dreamed Of A City Called Glory". Now John is rejoicing with the Heavenly Father he served which began early in his life. John will be missed but the shell entangling him will not. April 23, 1949, was John's first mission here on earth being the first born of his parents the late John Albert Goree and Maggie C. McCarter-Goree's six children. John's last three years of life served God well as he was a beacon of hope for the ones suffering dementia, and an example that life wasn't over because of the disease. His life started afresh serving God along side his wife as they traveled from place to place carrying the light of hope... Even on his dying bed souls after souls were saved and delivered as each saw the sleeping giant smiling when something funny was said, though he slept….Man couldn't wake him up, yet God was using him for His kingdom business. We, each was born to make a difference in this life loaned to us for a brief second in time. What John did in the last second of His life helped a grieving daughter to tell her mother it was ok for her to answer Jesus' call for home. John's life didn't end because of dementia it began because his spirit was free to worship in spirit and in truth. Mentioning John's life achievement
isn't about organization or denomination membership, but about doing the will of the Lord. His life isn't about how many awards he received during his stay on earth, it's about the lives he touched for good. It's not about how he loved his family because it was required being a follower of Christ Jesus. Yes, John will be missed…by the ones calling him husband, Herticine Goree(Hertic as he said), Father, Herweena Ford (Tuderrell) Walls, MS, Timothy Cannon, Griffin, Georgia. Granddad, Xzadrean Gladney(Alexandria) Rex Georgia, Tuderrell Ford II, Jackson, MS, Yanni Lee Cannon, Fayetteville, Georgia, Chaya Lee Cannon, Fayetteville, Georgia. Great-Granddad Aiden Gladney, Rex Georgia, Son, Maggie C.Goree…Brother Delancy Goree, Huntsville, Alabama, Mary Wilson( Joseph), Adams, Kentucky, William Goree (Patricia ), Dumphries, Virginia, Danny Goree, Shannon, MS, Rodney Goree, Madison, MS.
Jesus called and John answered to meet his father John Albert Goree gone before him and waiting to welcome him to glory. Don't cry about John's journey from this life because each one of us will walk the path leaving to eternal life one day. One question though, have you made preparation for the journey to everlasting life? If not, today is a wonderful time to answer Jesus' call to follow Him. Songs will be song, prayers will be prayed, Scriptures will be read, tribute said, and eulogy given, but the most important part about John Alfred Goree's homecoming service is…do you know Jesus and accepted Him as your Savior? These were John's final words on this side of life…"Thank You Lord! Thank You for being so good to me! Thank You Lord!" As Robin D. Bullock told of Jesus' empty tomb in Israel where there is no death but pure fresh oxygen. And sang the song…."How Great Is Our God." The last clear words spoken by John were thanking God for His goodness and love as tears were wiped from his face.
